Uni is a journey seeking identity and an answer to life.
My main inspirations came from Zhang Yang's movie, Paths of the Soul, and my personal experiences in Buddhism temples.
Tsering and Tsimei each represent a track of path in life and spirit, as if they are my version of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, but more pious and less absurd.
When creating an animation project like Uni,
I attempted to make the form match its spirit by all means.
To achieve this goal, I attempted to bring the texture of movie, theatre and game design into this project.
On top of that, I also attempted to give Uni a touch of Chinese magical realism. To me, experimenting with Chinese cultural and spiritual philosophies is a power bank of my inspiration.

1. On Tsering's lone journey he sees the snow as the meadow.
2. Then this blind elderly man enters a temple where the mural turns into an eye, staring at him as he walks by. He kneels down in front of this wall of a duo.
3. Suddenly the light fades.
4. When the light comes back he is back in the world of snow, old lamb gone. A kid comes, helping him to stand up, turns into a stone.
5. By touching the kid's earring and face, Tsering realized the kid is his brother, Tsimei, when he was a teenager. Then the shadow of younger Tsimei disappears, leaving Tsering alone in the world of snow, with the heaven being the ceiling of the temple.
